This study is focused on the set of four Swiss stained glass, from the 16th century, belonging to the bibliophile Jerónimo Ferreira das Neves’ collection of art, a Brazilian who has spent several periods in Portugal. Deepening the knowledge about this collector and framing his taste for collecting ancient stained glass, in the context of the practices recorded in our country and in Brazil in the nineteenth century, are essential objectives of this work.. It is intended, therefore, to open the way to new researches, focused on the presence of the old (or al antiguo) stained glass in the nineteenth century art market, but also for revivalist approaches that consider stained glass as a valuable art in the context of the restoration of monuments or in the construction of new historicist buildings.
