In 2021, 90 years were celebrated since the signing of the Athens Charter for the Restoration of Historical Monuments (1931). The ARTIS Patrimonium Research Group – Institute of Art History of the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon (Portugal), intended to mark the anniversary by publishing a special issue of ARTis ON. In this issue, the aim was to evaluate, on an international scale, the context in which the Charter of Athens was drawn up, within the broad scope of the League of Nations' activities in favor of the defense and valorization of historical and artistic heritage and archaeological, mobile and immobile.
