I have studied the sculptor José de Almeida (1708-1770) and his works on several occasions, which is why it is neither the place nor the occasion to write extensively about his life and work in this text, but only mention those aspects considered as relevant to the understanding and contextualization of the piece that is intended here. In fact, this text has the sole purpose of bringing to the attention an image of Our Lady of the Rosary, which is now conserved in the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Mafra, which remained unstudied and which authorship can be associated to the sculptor José de Almeida.
