This study aims to discuss, based on unpublished documentation from the personal archives of José Mascarenhas Relvas (1858-1929), how the collector included in its collection of works of art a set of pieces from the Portuguese monastic heritage, today part of the permanent exhibition of Casa dos Patudos – Museu de Alpiarça. How he did it, with what intention and specially, the passion with which he studied and integrated it into his daily life, are some of the questions I want to study, using the information that his inexhaustible personal historical archive provides.
