Abstract

The Convent of St. John of God, in Lisbon, was founded in 1629 by Hospitaller Order of St. John of God. Over almost 200 years, granted health care to religious, military and civilians. With the extinction of the convent in 1834, most of its assets were incorporated into the National Treasury. His current whereabouts is unknown, except for some works of art analyzed in this Paper. The preservation and education of historical memory in medical assistance of the Hospitallers Brothers is enshrined in Museum of St. John of God – Psychiatry and History, opened in 2009. The archival research referring to inventories of movable property is, therefore, essential to enrich the public communication.
