This presentation analyses the path of the sacred art collection of Carmo Church in Horta (XVII-XVIII centuries), Faial, since the abolishment of the religious orders. This study results from the analysis of three inventories carried out between 1834 and 2010. It is relevant that, in the sculpture nucleus, the items belonging to altars remained related to their original context. It is also to be noted that, with the inventorying of this collection in 2010, it was possible to locate items considered in unknown location or lost. The sacred art collection of Carmo Church in Horta constitutes an ensemble of stylistic and chronological unity, and its restitution to the original context is important.
