Infant D. Fernando Portrait analysis (Ancient Art Museum, Lisbon) was deeply inspired by the moving letter of King D. João I’s youngest son. His words were written from Fez dungeon on the 11th of June 1441 and directed to his brother D. Pedro, the Regent.
The portrait reading is focused on its historic and cultural circumstances. Main issues of production such as order, authorship and iconographic value are also highlighted.
