Film, a medium from the realm of cinema has spread over the most experimental artistic practices of the 1960 and 1970s. The integration of film in the art world erupted and disseminated among the main art movements that redefined and expanded the field of visual arts. From the analysis of a selection of international and portuguese works this article reflects on the integration of film in Conceptualism to reflect how the medium – with its physical, technological and institutional specificity – played a key role in the dematerialization of the artistic object and the expansion of art.
