This article reflects upon the centrality of the subject of mediality in modern and contemporary art theory, namely in aesthetical, phenomenological, semiological and technological approaches. This pervasivness, across various epistemic and historical understandings of art, demands a re-interpretation of the radical change it is then implied by the announcement of a post-medium condition of art and culture.
