The present reflection approaches the artistic freedom in the contemporary art world – developed from the concept of Artworld conceived by Arthur C. Danto. Thus, the connection between the artist and his work with the society is thought, as the restrictions and liberties that come from this dialectical relation. Having as fundament the fact that the artistic liberty is defined by the conditions of possibility of concretization of a work of art; being that this range of possibility goes from the moment when the work is only a “seed” in the mind until the moment that the work is exhibited – from this moment on, the work follows a life of its own.
Ultimately, we seek to open the way to the debate around the power relations within the hierarchies that constitute the art world, highlighting the main consequences for the occidental society culture.
