Remígio Francisco is one of the 18th century’s architects whose partially known activity is the one he exercised associated with the reconstruction of Lisbon after the earthquake of 1755. His personal life, along with the activity carried out before this catastrophe, remains unknown. This gap will result in an expected difficulty in researching his professional activity, and in an undervaluation of this architect’s work.
With this contribution is intended to complement the scarce biographical data, and to provide the deepening of the knowledge about architect Remígio Francisco.
